Caleb with kids on the way to the Seattle Aquarium. Wife Terry is taking the photo.

I’m a stay-at-home father. The idea is that my wife would work and support me as I write (Update:  I Think You’re Totally Wrong forthcoming from Knopf in 2014). But then we started to have children….

This is not a regular Today I took my kids to the pool, it was so cute! blah blah blah… This morning baby had three poos blah blah blog. This is a family diary with humor. This blog started because this piece of mine, If Jackson Pollock Wrote Poetry, attracted the editors of errant parent . They asked if I would contribute to their online magazine. Thus Notes of a Sexist Stay-at-home Father.

In 2010 I launched this blog. For more visit: Caleb Powell’s Page.

  1. I did not know that urinating in a public swiming pool was a national trait of our neighbors to the north. I know more than a few Canadians, and have actually swam in a hotel pool with them, once—with a Canadian and her VERY YOUNG children. Have I been contaminated?

    • Actually, that was a low blow toward our Canadian friends, and was only written in order to gain cheap laughs. I love Canada. There is no empirical evidence that Canadians pee in pools, or Minnesotans, for that matter. Except, of course, for the Minnesota mom.

  2. Well, to further our knowledge of the Canadian national temperament, I went ahead and contacted my Canadian sister-in-law, who is also an expert in the field of having opinions. She said that she was pretty well discouraged from urinating in public swimming pools from the get go. Also, she is a nurse, and went on to say that pee is mostly water, with a little bit of discharge taken from the bloodstream. So, little actual harm is done from the occaisional errant bladder. (But why is urine yellow and not more blood colored? And should the words blood colored by hyphen-ated?) Caleb, how come your comment section isn’t under the individual blogs?

  3. It’s been two years now and I’m still in the wrong
